1st CDEP Conference

Two big events will be held on April 27, 2013 at the UP Ayala Land Techno-Hub Conference Room, Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City. There will be a conference cum book launching from 3:00-6:00pm and the anniversary party will follow from 6:00-9:00pm. CDEP is a center for research and learning dedicated to the advancement of architecture, landscape architecture, interior design, urban design, planning and the engineering disciplines. The conference with the theme, “Building Knowledge for the Filipino Design Professionals” highlights the essence of research and collaboration among the different disciplines in the building industry. There will be a series of paper presentations on valuable topics helpful in engaging in future discussions and promoting better understanding of the designed environment professions.

The talks during the event are strategically aligned to enlighten attendees on the growing responsibilities of Filipino designers, on all aspects of the environment. This will culminate with the keynote speaker, as she address the current state of the design industry and how we should move forward with all the knowledge and learning gained from the micro talks.

Lined up for the conference proper are the following paper presentations:

  1. Inquiries of a Green-Minded Designer • Arch’t. Grace Edralin-Servino, lecturer at the University of Santo Tomas and a landscape design consultant
  2. Setting Up Your Office for Filipino Architects • Arch’t. Mar Lorence Ticao, professorial lecturer at the Far Eastern University and a freelance writer
  3. Legal and Technical Parameters for Architectural Design • Arch’t. Alvin Dimalanta, freelance architect and lecturer at CDEP
  4. Comparative Analysis of National Building and Development Laws in the Philippines • Arch’t. Marie Edraline Belga, research associate at the College of Architecture of UP Diliman and lecturer at CDEP
  5. Building Construction for Interior Designers • Arch’t. John Ryan Santos, hospital designer and lecturer at CDEP
  6. Foundations of Architectural Thought • Prof. Emilio Ozaeta, college secretary and professor at the UP Diliman College of Architecture
  7. Housing and the Global Economy • Dr. Grace Ramos, professor at the UP Diliman College of Architecture and partner of CDEP

Aside from the talk, there will be time to mingle with your design peers right after. The 10 year celebration of CDEP in the industry will immediately follow.
